A Little Hoarse

Leta is totally getting laryngitis. It's kind of hilarious. Please don't hate me for saying so. It's just that she's a very loud child. I think it's from whatever virus she has but her tendency to be extremely amped up is sealing the deal. Glorious quiet! Ask me how I feel about it later tonight when the croupiness (yes, that's the technical term for it) makes her throw up again.

I don't want the kids to be sick but if they must, being more quiet is a bit of silver lining.

How old is she? Did the cough really sound like barking? I think it's croupe (which causes laryngitis). It's pitiful, but it IS kind of funny to listen to them. (They usually don't get croupe after about 5, but my 6-year-old got it twice last winter and she'd never had it before.) Be prepared for some time off. Mine missed 3 days of school. Went back on the 4th, but came home after 2 hours because in her weakened state she had caught something else.

"Gloriously quiet"! LOL. The mute button may have been a pleasant side-effect of suspected laryngitis, please be sure to seek sound medical care for her so it won't spiral into something more sinister. Surely you'll eventually want your running-around-24/7 kiddo back in tune/volume & in good health!

Ahhh, hope they're ok. Miss E almost lost her voice last week and it was quite nice apart from the coughing, but then Miss M got the trots. I think it may have been karma so watch out. :D And icecream definitely helps with the blues. :)

Oooh, she's acquiring a sexy Demi Moore voice? I hope she's better soon, but in the meantime, enjoy your peace ;-)

Oh, and thanks for the tip-- I've gone to Madison's website and am enjoying what I see so far....

When my kids have a nonproductive bark like that, I slather vapo rub on their backs and chest and zip them up in a pair of those fleece jammies and let them incubete in the mint. Usually, when they do cough, a big glob of lung cookie comes too which should start a chain reaction leading to a nice rattly phlegmy cough.

Oh, poor Leta. My two are all about respiratory illness. Very rarely have we had to deal with stomache issues, but every winter it's colds, croup, and asthma. Hope she feels better soon.
Enjoy the quiet while it lasts.

It seems that just as I think, "Oh, it's been a while since they've been sick." one of them falls ill. And then yes, snuggling and quiet. But geesh, less sleep!
